Primary sector leader and former Massey staff member passes away

Pāmu chairman and former Massey staff member Dr Warren Parker sadly passed away on 29 December 2023. Dr Parker was a Professor of Agribusiness and Resource Management at the university, where he spent 18 years in various roles, including supervising the 9000-stock unit Riverside Farm in the Wairarapa.

He obtained his Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Honours), Masters in Farm Management and PhD in Animal Science from Massey. His teaching and research focused on farm system design and performance. Dr Parker was a former Chief Executive of Scion and Landcare Research, and also served as Chief Operating Officer at AgResearch. He held a number of board roles, including on Predator Free 2050 Limited, Farmlands Co-operative Society, Genomics Aotearoa. He was Chair of the Forestry Ministerial Advisory Group, Pāmu, Quayside Holdings and the New Zealand Conservation Authority.
