Join us as we celebrate the outstanding achievements of Massey’s teachers, researchers, partnerships and alumni at the 2015 Massey University Defining Excellence Awards

Massey celebrated 50-years as a university in 2014 but it's origins trace back to the Wellington School of Design's formation in 1885 and the Massey Agricultural College, in Manawatū, in 1927. Today we rank among the top 3 per cent of universities in the world, which is in line with our vision of being New Zealand's defining university and our mission of taking the best of New Zealand to the world.

In 2015 the University will be looking forward to the next 50 years – during which there are certain to be very significant changes in higher education.  Massey intends to be at the forefront of these changes.

The Defining Excellence Awards were launched in 2010 to bring together graduates, friends, supporters and staff of the University to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Massey’s teachers, researchers and alumni.

The Awards evening is always a highlight on the University’s calendar, so don’t miss the opportunity to purchase tickets.

Massey University Partnership Excellence Award
We are proud to announce the introduction of the Massey University Partnership Excellence Award at the Defining Excellence Awards this year. Since its inception in 1927 as a small agricultural college, Massey University has developed diverse relationships with a variety of organisations nationally and globally. The Partnership Excellence Award recognises relationships which go above and beyond normal business relationships and transactions; organisations who are true partners for Massey University and share our vision to take the best of New Zealand to the rest of the world through excellence in creation, connection and innovation.

This year, proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the restoration of the Refectory Building on the Manawatu campus
The Refectory, and its bigger brother, old Main Building (renamed the Geoffrey Peren Building in 2010 in honour of one of Massey Agricultural College’s founding Principles) still dominate the Manawatu campus nearly 85 years after they were built. New seismic regulations, due to come into force in 2026, mean the University must undertake engineering work to reinforce these buildings and ensure they remain useable and safe.

Refurbishment of the Sir Geoffrey Peren Building has been funded by the University and will be completed by 2016. Tiritea House (The former Vice Chancellor’s residence) is also being slowly and lovingly restored with the generous support of alumni and friends.

We are now seeking the support of friends and alumni to help us restore the Refectory to its former glory.

If you have any questions relating to the Awards dinner please contact Lis Carroll by email nationalevents@massey.ac.nz or phone 09 414 0800 x 43018, otherwise we hope you can join us for this memorable evening.
