Massey Vets Class of '94 - 30 Year Reunion

The Massey Vets Class of 1994 recently reconvened in Palmerston North over King's Birthday weekend (31st May - 2nd June) to celebrate our 30-year class reunion. This milestone event brought together old friends and colleagues who travelled from various corners of New Zealand, and even from as far as Australia and the UK.

The reunion saw an impressive turnout, with 34 alumni attending, accompanied by several partners who joined in the festivities. The weekend began with a warm welcome dinner at Venue on Cuba (formerly known as Costas restaurant), which included some special guest appearances by former Massey veterinary staff members.  Everyone was still easily recognisable despite the passage of three decades, and it felt a bit like going back in a time warp catching up again after all these years.

Saturday's itinerary included a fascinating tour of the veterinary faculty at Massey University, guided by Jenny Weston, Dean of Veterinary Education, and Vicki Cumming. While it was a great shame that the iconic Vet Tower was no longer standing, we were impressed by the state-of-the-art developments and high standards of the new facilities.

In the afternoon, the group embarked on our bus tour to Makoura Lodge in Apiti, where we enjoyed a variety of activities such as claybird shooting, archery, and axe throwing, followed by another delightful dinner. The reunion concluded on Sunday with a leisurely lunch at Orlando Country, where we had fun hitting a few golf balls at the driving range.

Overall, the weekend was a resounding success, filled with great old memories and the creation of plenty of new ones. It was a wonderful opportunity to return to Palmerston North and the Massey campus, to revisit the places where our great friendships started all those years ago.
