Honouring Professor Emeritus Ralph Sims

On Monday, 24th November we came together on the Manawatū campus to celebrate Professor Emeritus Ralph Sims – the 2025 recipient of Massey’s highest honour, the Sir Geoffrey Peren Award. This award recognises exceptional and enduring contributions to the university, our communities, and our nation.

For more than 55 years, Ralph has been a driving force for innovation, sustainability, and global environmental change. His name is synonymous with climate action – and his impact reaches far beyond academia.

It was a privilege to honour Ralph - not just for his academic achievements, but for his humility, humour, and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
