Child and Adolescent Sleep Health: The Third Pillar of Health and Wellbeing with Dr. Diane (Dee) Muller and Dr. Karyn O’Keeffe

Dr. Dee Muller and Dr. Karyn O’Keeffe share insights and a broad overview of child and adolescent sleep health – what it is, why it is important, and what we can do to support children and young people to sleep well.

Dee is based at the Sleep/Wake Research Centre on the Massey University Wellington campus. She has a background in occupational therapy and is currently a recipient of a Lottery Health Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her research interests include child and adolescent sleep health, sleep health inequities, social determinants of child and adolescent sleep health, and the role of sleep in inequities in child and adolescent health.

Karyn is a Senior Lecturer at the Sleep/Wake Research Centre and a physiologist with considerable clinical experience in monitoring sleep and managing sleep disorders. Karyn has broad research interests but is particularly passionate about exploring the impacts of shift work and improving the management of the risks associated with shift work and fatigue for healthcare professionals, as well as improving sleep health in the general population.
