Sheik Habeeb

Sheik Habeeb Mohamed Magdoom, a father of two and an established architectural and construction professional from Dubai, UAE, embarked on a transformative journey at Massey University. After seventeen years of professional success, Sheik pursued his lifelong dream of earning a Master’s in Construction Management, a bold step supported wholeheartedly by his family.

Upon arriving in Auckland, Sheik transitioned from a seasoned professional to a full-time student, a challenging shift that was met with Massey’s welcoming and supportive environment. “The state-of-the-art facilities and the collaborative learning environment at Massey fuelled my passion,” Sheik recalls.

Pursuing a Master’s degree while raising two children required meticulous planning and dedication. The support from his professors and peers proved invaluable, and the encouragement from his children fuelled his perseverance through even the most challenging times.

Sheik’s hard work paid off splendidly at his graduation—a moment he describes as the proudest of his life. “Walking across the stage and seeing my family’s beaming faces made all the sacrifices worthwhile,” he shared. This milestone was not just a personal achievement but a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication and the sheer joy of success.

Reflecting on his time at Massey, Sheik feels a deep sense of gratitude: “Massey equipped me with advanced knowledge and skills, enhancing my understanding of hard work and lifelong learning.”

Sheik’s advice to others considering a similar path is encouraging: “It’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Embrace the challenges, surround yourself with supportive people, and most importantly, believe in yourself. Your dreams are within reach if you are willing to work hard and never give up.”
