Josephine Lucas-De Guzman

Josephine Lucas-De Guzman recently completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing, marking another milestone in her 14-year nursing career!

Josephine, a mother of three, has always aspired to further her education. “Life threw many challenges my way – from managing full-time work and community advocacy to financial planning with scholarships and my side hustles like creating content for my page,” Josephine shares. Her journey wasn’t without its trials, including a complicated pregnancy during her youngest child’s birth last year.

Despite these obstacles, Josephine never let go of her goals. “There was a time I was so worried I’d fail my exams while breastfeeding my son in the NICU. I remember crying to my husband, fearing I would not succeed.” However, her faith and persistence paid off, “I pushed through and passed! I am now pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing this year.”

Josephine also learned valuable lessons along the way about seeking help when needed. “I was terrified to ask for an extension, thinking it would reflect poorly on me as a student. But I learned that our professors are understanding and supportive, recognising the challenges we face,” she explained.

“This is a reminder to chase your dreams and pursue them when right. Aim high because the sky is the limit!”
