Auckland Graduations
Forty-three PhD graduates and 307 Masters graduates were amongst the 1603 that graduated in Auckland recently. A total of 1428 students crossed the stage at the Bruce Mason Centre, and a further 175 students celebrated in absentia.
Amongst the PhD cohort were Nikki Renall, Taranaki, and Sophie Kindleysides who both chose to research the diets on New Zealanders and the current global obesity epidemic.

4 Generations of alumni
When Matt Hoggard walked across the stage at the Regent on Broadway recently, he became the fourth generation of his family to graduate from Massey. Matt’s mother Robyn Hoggard, grandmother Judy Owen and late great-grandfather Neville Green are all Massey graduates. Robyn Hoggard and Owen were all on hand to witness Hoggard’s big day.

Alumni receive Queen’s Birthday Honours
Fifteen outstanding alumni including Dr Kevin Marshall (pictured with Vice-Chancellor Professor Jan Thomas, Professor Jeremy Hill and Chancellor Michael Ahie) were among those recently recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours. Dr Marshall also recently received the Massey Medal at the Manawatu graduations.

RIIKI on her way to high heights
Recent graduate, RIIKI released her latest video ‘In the moment’ earlier this month continuing a run of success over the past year. Her second single, High Heights topped the Official New Zealand Music Chart and gained international attention.

VALE: Nancy (Nan) Joan Kinross, CBE
Nancy (Nan) Joan Kinross, CBE, founding professor of Nursing Studies at Massey University passed away on May 17, 2021. Along with colleague Norma Chick, she introduced the first courses in nursing at Massey University, and later gained her PhD from the university. She was appointed the inaugural Professor of Nursing at Massey in 1985, becoming the second woman to be a professor at the university.

The Massey Institute is Massey University’s first joint education institution (JEI) in China. The institute builds on the successful launch of the Massey Learning Centre at NUFE earlier this year, which opened for China-based Massey students who could not return to New Zealand due to border restrictions.
