Graeme Milne ONZM, Massey University Sir Geoffrey Peren Medal 2014
Graeme Milne completed a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) at Massey in 1975 before joining DB Breweries where he helped commission and build a new plant in Timaru before leaving to become a technical officer at the New Zealand Dairy Board. After spending four years in Germany for the Dairy Board he returned to NZ and served ten years working for Bay Milk Products. He helped rebuild the company after the 1987 earthquake and became CEO in 1992. In 1997 Graeme found himself in Europe once again, this time driving sales across Europe, Middle East, Russia and North Africa, returning to New Zealand in 1999 to become Chief Executive Officer of Dairy NZ Group, a role that he retired from in 2000 prior to the merger that formed Fonterra.
Graeme will talk about his new ventures serving as a director for several diverse organisations including the rural broadband initiative, the Johnes Disease Research Consortium, Alliance Group and the publically listed Canterbury dairy company, Synlait Milk.
