What happens when humans can communicate with animals?

Massey lecturer and award-winning author Laura Jean McKay joins us for an engaging Q&A about her book ‘The Animals in That Country’. The novel is a disquieting account of a virus that gives infected humans the ability to understand animals. Writing for ‘The Guardian’, Justine Jordan calls the book, “an extraordinary debut” – “a fierce and funny exploration of other consciousnesses and the limits of language.”

Kat Crosse, Senior Lecturer in Companion Animal Surgery, and Ingrid Horrocks, Professor of Creative Writing, host this fascinating discussion.
